SHOP MECHANIC
​Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on gasoline trucks and diesel-powered construction equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, and other heavy machinery.

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel system issues using appropriate tools and technology.

Conduct preventive maintenance according to manufacturer guidelines and company standards to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance and repairs, including parts used, labor hours, and any other relevant details.

Inspect equipment before and after use to ensure safe operating conditions and compliance with company safety standards.

Order and maintain an inventory of necessary parts and supplies to perform repairs and maintenance tasks.

Work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to schedule repairs and prioritize work orders.

Follow safety procedures and guidelines when operating equipment or performing tasks in the shop or on job sites.

Provide training or guidance to junior mechanics or apprentices, as needed.
Qualifications:
-
Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or similar role, preferably in the construction industry.

Strong knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

Experience with a variety of heavy machinery and construction vehicles.

Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment for troubleshooting and repairs.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
-
Strong communication and organizational skills.
-
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in diesel mechanics or a related field is recommended.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift heavy parts and tools (up to 50 lbs).
-
Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
-
Comfortable working in confined spaces and under machinery.
