SHOP MECHANIC

​Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on gasoline trucks and diesel-powered construction equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, and other heavy machinery.

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel system issues using appropriate tools and technology.

  • Conduct preventive maintenance according to manufacturer guidelines and company standards to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance and repairs, including parts used, labor hours, and any other relevant details.

  • Inspect equipment before and after use to ensure safe operating conditions and compliance with company safety standards.

  • Order and maintain an inventory of necessary parts and supplies to perform repairs and maintenance tasks.

  • Work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to schedule repairs and prioritize work orders.

  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines when operating equipment or performing tasks in the shop or on job sites.

  • Provide training or guidance to junior mechanics or apprentices, as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or similar role, preferably in the construction industry.

  • Strong knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

  • Experience with a variety of heavy machinery and construction vehicles.

  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment for troubleshooting and repairs.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in diesel mechanics or a related field is recommended.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift heavy parts and tools (up to 50 lbs).

  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and on uneven terrain.

  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and under machinery.
