Diane K. Hoover-Hunt, M.D., a family practitioner, has joined the medical staff at Family Health Specialists of North Judson.

The Center of Workforce Innovations recently hired David Blumenthal as workforce associate, where he will oversee research and development based on programs, projects, and workforce development initiatives for the center.

Alfonso Blum, M.D. has recently joined the staff at St. Catherine Hospital, specializing in internal medicine. Blum received his medical degree from La Universadad Catolica DeSantiago De Guayaquil in Ecuador and completed his internship at UIC Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. His office is located at 4320 Fir St. Suite 316, East Chicago.

Tricia Howe recently joined Sand Creek Country Club's management team as banquet and sales manager. Howe initially will focus on expanding banquet, meeting and conference events within the business and social communities of Northern Indiana and the surrounding areas.

Donald Torrenga, co-owner of Munster-based Torrenga Engineering, has been appointed to the board of directors for the Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana Inc, a nonprofit organization that provides leadership and resources for the enhancement of health and quality of life in Northwest Indiana.

William A. Hasse III, president of Hasse Construction Co. Inc., has been appointed to the board of directors for The Community Hospital in Munster. Hasse will serve on the board of Munster Medical Research Foundation, Inc., the corporate name for the nonprofit hospital. He has been president of Hasse Construction since 1984, a general building contractor with offices in Calumet City and Munster.

Kim Cohn has joined Area Glass Inc., of St. John, as estimator and sales professional. Cohn brings a wealth of knowledge to the business with a background in the construction industry
